HFH Human for Human local NGO based in Karbala and in Baghddad(Part-time)  is seeking for qualified applicants for the below post to work within the Karbala: 

Vacant Position: Accounts officer ( 2 persons)

 Grade: G C Step 4

Duration: 24 months with possible extension

Reports to: Finance Manager

Reporting lines : Project Manager

Subordinates: Deputy Head of Organization

Human for Human organization is an Iraqi local organization working in the central and south of Iraq. The organization’s most specialized field of work is relief programs, capacity building, and development. The organization has received funds from the United Nations, international governmental funds and international donor organizations. H4H focuses on child protection, youth development, and economic development.

Location:

H4H seeks qualified candidates to fill 1 position in the Karbala Headquarters office, The staff will be required to work 5 days a week 40 hours and in Baghdad, Part-time will be required to work 2.5 days a week 20 hours.

Position Summary

Finance managers analyze every day financial activities and provide advice and guidance to upper management on future financial plans. They are the root of all major business decisions and their role is crucial to the success of any organization. Finance managers may be employed in many different environments.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Paying authorized persons and ensuring that the recipients acknowledge of the advance forms are taken.
  • Maintaining orderliness in the Safe for various currencies. The Safe must be free of unnecessary things and access.
  • Ensuring the safety of the Cash, Check Books.
  • Ensuring adequate Cash Imp rest levels in the Safe.
  • Issuing receipts in respect of the Cash and checks received to the staff members in case of reimbursement or payments.
  • Ensuring that the physical Cash or value of the checks received are in agreement with the documents to support such transactions.
  • Ensuring that the physical Cash or checks received are genuine.
  • Updating Supervisors about Petty cash books with all Cash transactions.

 

  • Ensuring that payments are made to the right people by verifying their identities.
  • Accounting for all of the Cash transactions by preparing the Cash Count Sheet.
  • Posting occurred transactions into QuickBooks accounting software on daily basis and make sure that each posted transactions are charged on an accurate account accordingly and in a consistent manner.
  • Releasing cash advance to cash advance requesters.
  • Conducting cash reconciliation with cash advance holders.
  • During cash reconciliation process; the Accountants responsible for checking all provided original supporting documents accurately and check for any missing signature and dates according to the provided checklist and ensuring that all receipts and documents are handled appropriately
  • Preparing cash reconciliation on daily basis.
  • Issuing vendor/supplier cheques.

 

  • Scanning all finance related transaction supporting documents according to their FYs and submitting original supporting documents to Karbala main office when it is requested.
  • Assist Office Managers and or Project Managers in designing and preparing monthly activity plan expenditure.
  • Maintain cash and bankbook on a daily basis.
  • Maintain cash advance tracker and notify whom exceeding the timeframe for holding cash advance.
  • Any other related duties; as assigned by the line manager.
  • Assist with fiscal year-end and fixed asset accounting

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or banking finance or the equivalent and five years of related administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Other Skills and Qualifications: High degree of technical competency, attention to detail/accuracy and excellent organization skills are required.  Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-productivity environment essential.

 

  • Language Skills: Excellent oral and written Arabic and English

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Human For Human.

  • Experience developing, reviewing, and tracking budgets using Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and other financial management software; other software routinely used by Human For Human.
