About the role

The Accounts Payable Officer role is vital in ensuring the organisation’s financial accuracy and integrity, supporting positive stakeholder relationships and compliance with financial regulations.

The Accounts Payable Officer will be responsible for accurately recording financial transactions in line with accounting principles and ACSO’s organisational policies. Key responsibilities include managing Accounts Payable processes, providing excellent customer service, responding to financial queries, coding and entering invoices, reviewing and generating weekly payments, assisting with Accounts Receivable tasks, maintaining records, and developing procedure manuals.

Working in conjunction with the Accounts Payable Supervisor, Finance Manager, and General Manager, the role involves supporting internal stakeholders, vendors, and funders while ensuring adherence to financial protocols.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Minimum tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance or Business or similar with relevant experience
  • Two years’ experience in a similar accounting role
  • Comprehensive understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Detailed knowledge of tax rules and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Develops productive working relationships and is able to operate as an integral member of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and deal with challenging debtors and creditors/situations
  • Understanding of the allocation of income and expenditure across several cost centres
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to changing requirements
  • Strong and demonstrated commitment and alignment to the ACSO Vision, Values and Mission
  • Demonstrates a commitment to developing the team’s safety and wellbeing, and to personal self-care
  • Engages in innovation and continuous improvement

Desirable but not essential

  • Previous experience with Technology One financial systems
  • Qualified or working towards CA/CPA qualification
  • Previous experience with the NDIS scheme
  • Prior experience in process improvement across accounting programs
