POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS seeks an Accounts Payable Specialist to maintain accounting records and process invoices. The Accounts Payable Specialist maintains accurate database/records on all financial transactions and disbursements and ensures these are properly coded.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages financial transactional activity for accounts payable, ensuring that payables are processed and recorded both timely and accurately in accordance with organization policies and GAAP.
  • Ensures that payments are supported by proper approval.
  • Reviews and approves invoices in NetSuite.
  • Maintains and assists in the development of policies and procedures for accounts payable processes.
  • Reviews designation of 1099 consultants and verifies supporting information is available.
  • Processes the Search and Debarment of new vendors.
  • Maintains the vendor file.
  • Ensures that credit card expense reports are submitted on time and accurately.
  • Records credit card expenses in General Ledger.
  • Reconciles credit cards monthly.
  • Assists on special projects as assigned.
  • Assists in the creation and implementation of process improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with experience in accounts payable.
  • Knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience with accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality results in a timely manner.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Travel, to include travel to insecure operating environments, may be required.
