ACE Ed Instructor

PURPOSE:   To serve as an educator for school field trips, day and residential, and special events. To deliver instruction of lessons designed to meet the Educational Standards set forth in the NC Standard Course of Study. To be an active member of a team that seeks to provide excellence and visitor satisfaction, meeting programmatic needs using the Agapé Center for Environmental Education Mission Statement as our guide.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To lead programming for school field trips, ACE @ Your Place events, and Community events
• To assist fellow team members with Pre-trip Set Up, and Post Trip Clean Up
• To stay up to date on NC Essential Standards for both Science and Social Studies

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Flexibility in offering programming that meets classroom needs and fulfills ACE Education goals.
• Direct supervision and program execution with 10-17 students, grades K-8 for day field trip and overnight residential environmental education hands-on activities in the outdoors.
• Oversee safe, fun learning experiences for the students.
• Teaching curriculum prepared by and trained by the ACE Education Environmental Education Director.

Qualifications:

• Degree in or credits toward one of the following fields is strongly preferred:
  • Environmental Education, Natural/Environmental Sciences, Biology, Education or related field.
  • Or strong knowledge of flora and fauna with field teaching experience.
• Strong desire to teach children in an outdoor setting.
• Be in physical condition to lead multiple hikes on unpaved trails.
• Willingness to lead programs for Public and Private Religion Based schools
• Willingness to learn and grow with a growing program.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certification a plus, but not required.
