The Head of College, Prof Helen Whelton, is pleased to open the application process for Adjunct Positions within the College of Medicine and Health.
Prior to submission, prospective applicants are required to engage in discussions regarding the intended level of adjunct appointment. It is necessary to obtain approval from the respective Head of Academic Department, Head of School, or Head of Research functional area.
If the case for the appointment is considered sustainable, a detailed proposal should be submitted for the consideration and approval by the College Adjunct Appointments Committee.

This regulation is to be read in conjunction with the Universities Act, 1997, and the Principal Statute (ucc.ie)
Important information
• The call is open from Thursday, 22nd February 2024 until 12 noon on Thursday, 18th April 2024
• Only fully completed applications submitted via the UCC HR portal will be reviewed by the Adjunct Committee.
• Appointments are for three years (but subject to renewal following review by the Adjunct Appointments Committee).
• The successful appointment of an individual with one of the titles below is an honorary appointment with an honorary title.

o an Adjunct Senior Lecturer
o an Adjunct Lecturer
o an Adjunct Clinical Professor
o an Adjunct Clinical Senior Lecturer
o an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer
• The appointment does not entitle the individual to any remuneration in respect of the appointment. The University may reimburse out of pocket expenses (i.e. mileage and subsistence) incurred by that individual for working visits to the University, provided these expenses have been properly vouched in line with UCC policy. These expenses will be paid tax free provided, the expense of travelling and subsistence:
o merely put the unpaid individual in a position to carry out their work; and
o no more than reimburse the individual the expenses actually incurred by them and do not exceed what are known as the Civil Service rates for reimbursement of expenses of travelling and subsistence.
o Please note that if the individual is already paid through the UCC payroll for other services, i.e. teaching/lecturing services then the expenses outlined above may be taxable as a result.
