USC Rossier School of Education seeks applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Instructor or Adjunct Faculty Instructor to teach a graduate-level online course entitled EDUC 673- Applications of Curriculum and Pedagogy in Elementary Classrooms, Part A. This is a 4 unit course that prepares pre-service elementary school teaching candidates to apply a variety of pedagogical practices that align with the needs of diverse learners during their first 15-week cycle of student teaching. Therefore, this course requires an instructor who has previous and/or recent experience supervising elementary school teachers. The applicant must be willing to work collaboratively with the student teacher, guiding teacher, and USC Rossier fieldwork staff to support MAT multiple-subject candidates. In addition, this course requires an instructor who provides pedagogical content knowledge instruction and critical feedback to pre-service elementary school teachers that delineates the importance of developing a classroom environment that is responsive to the diverse needs of all students. In addition, the instructor must be aware of the USC Mission Statement and the implications of preparing and observing the development of teaching within the context of the student teaching experience. Applicants with a deep understanding of curriculum and instruction, educational equity, pedagogical practices, and different social contexts of schooling are especially encouraged to apply. In addition, we are seeking applicants with experience working with a variety of learners. This course requires knowledge of the various pedagogical practices including the CGI approach as well as the construction and analysis applicable primarily to the subject areas of math, science, STEAM, and physical education for elementary school students. The applicant must have practice-based instructional experience responding to individual differences among English Learners, gifted and advanced learners, and students with special needs. The instructor of this course needs to be familiar with the standards applicable to these subject areas and understand how to deliver instruction aligned to the application of contemporary issues relative to cultural responsiveness, social-emotional learning, and interdisciplinary connections. The applicant will have experience and expertise in the development and implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans, and individual transition plans for students with special needs. We are seeking an applicant who has an understanding of how to support prospective teachers to engage in professionalism as they implement and advocate for appropriate practices responsive to the needs of elementary school students. Reporting to the Course Coordinator of the course, the Part-Time or Adjunct Faculty Instructor is responsible for learning and implementing the course curriculum, attending regularly scheduled weekly faculty meetings, providing daily/weekly communication to students, offering regularly scheduled office hours, and complying with program-level operations requests, school-level policies, and university-level guidelines.

Adjunct Faculty: USC reserves the “Adjunct Faculty” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty may teach one class each semester (summer, fall and spring).

The base salary range for this position is $9,333-$12,000 per course.
