The Master of Communication Management (MCG) program at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California, is seeking a qualified Adjunct Lecturer/Co-Instructor to complement the expertise of our full-time faculty during the Fall 2024 semester. This position involves co-teaching CMGT 532: Development of the American Media Industry, a course delving into the origins and evolution of the American media landscape, with a focus on contemporary advertising sales dynamics. The curriculum encompasses historical perspectives, technological advancements, regulatory frameworks, and business practices. Specific topics covered include partnerships, ad products, digital advertising, sales strategy, monetization, customer acquisition, and pitching. The co-instructor will bring real-world experience and examples into the classroom.

Ideal candidates should possess executive-level experience in media partnerships and demand generation. Preferably, candidates will have specific expertise related to Google, Amazon, or Meta, along with a diverse background in categories such as automotive, travel, or consumer products.

Minimum Qualifications :
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Advertising, Media, or related fields.

Minimum Experience: 20 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications :
Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Communication Advertising, Strategic Communication, or related fields.

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, activate partnerships, and drive revenue.
  • Work experience in major media or technology companies, such as Google, Meta, or Amazon.
  • Experience across categories such as automotive, travel, or consumer products is highly desired.
  • Teaching experience in media communication or other applied communication fields.

The hourly range for this position is $$36.37 – $45.46. USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
