WE ARE

The Directorate-General for Enlargement and the Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) takes
forward the EU’s Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood policies. DG ENEST works closely with
the European External Action Service and the line DGs in charge of thematic priorities.

The mission of Directorate C is to contribute to the implementation of the EU cooperation
frameworks in the Eastern Neighbourhood, through the design of assistance and the mobilisation
of Commission instruments and resources, notably in order to project EU values and policies in this
region. It assists countries with a perspective to join the EU and contributes to developing the EU’s
special relationship with its neighbouring countries in the East, with a view to improving conditions
for a sustainable economic, social and environmental development, promoting democracy, the rule
of law, good governance and the respect of human rights. In this context, the Directorate
supervises and guides the implementation of financial assistance by the EU Delegations under
devolved management and implements multi-country or regional programmes.

WE PROPOSE

Directorate C is seeking to hire an Administrative Agent to the Director. The DG values and
promotes cross-sectoral work. The jobholder may therefore be called to contribute to various tasks
and projects in line with the needs of the Directorate or the DG, as guided by the DG’s political
priorities.

We propose an interesting and challenging position as Administrative Agent to the Director. This is
a varied job carried out in cooperation with a wide range of partners, both in Headquarters and the
Delegations.

The position will consist of:

• Managing Director’s agenda, correspondence and administrational tasks.
• Monitoring and distributing tasks assigned to the Directorate.

• Organising meetings, events and missions.
• Ensuring that the infrastructure and logistics needs of the Directorate are covered.

• Acting as the main contact point for internal and external stakeholders on all questions of

the Directorate.

• Act as a Communication Coordinator for the Directorate – coordinate all information and
communication activities of the Directorate and related to the Neighbourhood East region.
• Contribute to implement human resources management processes, such as recruitments,

rotation, mobility, staff trainings, introduction of newly hired colleagues, etc.

The ideal candidate should have:

• A strong sense of responsibility and discretion.
• A positive and service-oriented spirit, coupled with excellent communication skills.
• Excellent coordination and planning skills.
• The ability to deliver within short deadlines on a multi-task basis.
• The ability to work proactively in a dynamic working environment.
• Minimum 3 years of full time professional experience.
• Excellent written and oral command of English. Knowledge of French.
• Knowledge of the main Commission IT applications (particularly Ares, MIPS+, BASIS, DECIDE
and Sysper) and being familiar with the Commission administrative procedures would be
considered an asset.

General criteria:

• Are a citizen of a Member State of the EU and enjoy full rights as a citizen
• Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by applicable laws concerning military service
• Are physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post
• Produce the appropriate character references as to suitability for the performance of the

duties.

Qualifications:
In order to be recruited for this position, you must have at least

• a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or
• a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary

education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.

Only qualifications issued or recognised as equivalent by EU Member State authorities (e.g. by the
Ministry of Education) will be accepted. Furthermore, before recruitment, you will be required to
provide the documents that corroborate the eligibility criteria (diplomas, certificates and other
supporting documents).

Languages:

have a thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the
EU2

• AND a satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU,

to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties.
