Position Summary
Manages and oversees all e-commerce retail operations for Spartan Spirit Shops to increase revenues and ensure financial success; collaborates with Spartan Spirit Shop managers at 1855 Place, MSU Union, Forest Akers Pro Shop, and the Tennis Facility to input all merchandise, market products, oversee/fill special orders, and sell/promote all products on e-commerce; coordinates, maintains, and oversees an inventory of 1,000+ retail items for all Spartan Spirit Shop locations to optimize sales and revenues; completes bi-annual inventory of all retail merchandise for Spartan Spirit Shop e-commerce; creates, implements, and updates all policies and standard operating procedures for Spartan Spirit Shop e-commerce operations in order to to increase efficiency; creates, oversees, and is responsible for Spartan Spirit Shop e-commerce budget; works with the Student Life & Engagement (SLE) Business & Finance Office to ensure all budget and accounting processes are followed; monitors all data/metrics for Spartan Spirit Shop e-commerce sales and develops and implements plans to increase sales and revenues; shares all data and metrics with Auxiliary Sports Group leadership; collaborates with various vendors to order items, submit special orders, and arrange any necessary returns; maintains vendor list in computer system; assists with the marketing of Spartan Spirit Shops on social media, including Facebook, Spartan Spirit Shop website, e-mail distribution lists, and any other related methods; maintains and updates Shopify account for e-commerce; assists with coordination of Spartan Spirit Shop special events and sales; assists customers with special orders to deliver outstanding customer service; resolves any customer complaints in a timely and courteous manner to ensure outstanding customer service; hires, schedules, and trains student team members to maintain appropriate staffing levels and stay within the labor budget. This job requires significant physical effort to move about the properties and retail outlets and frequent lifting of 25 pounds to transport merchandise.
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment such as retail management, business administration, marketing; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit such as retail management or business administration; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications
Experience with financial spreadsheets.
Desired Qualifications
Proficient in the following computer software: Micros, Shopify, Microsoft Office, Drupal, and Web-based ordering.
