Organizational Unit Overview The College of Health and Human Performance (HHP) at ECU is home to eight academic units (offering over 30 degree options), award winning faculty, world class research labs and a diverse student body. Our wide range of academic programs provide an assortment of academic options for potential and current students. Student experiences inside and outside of the classroom are vast as well. Students in our programs are exposed to many different opportunities and experiences.
Job Duties Performance Area: Student/Trainee Employment (30%)
In the Student/Trainee Employment area, the individual in this position ensures timely and accurate processing of student employee personnel actions for all students (undergraduate and graduate) and trainees (post-doctoral fellowships). This includes, but may not be limited to:

  • Initiating (including posting) and ensuring completion of student employment/assistantship contracts
  • Maintaining the data integrity of the information in the student/trainee employee database and employee personnel files by keeping them up to date,
  • Assisting with pay-related issues
  • Processing and notifying student/trainee employees and departments of breaks in service or terminations, and
  • Reviewing student/trainee personnel actions for compliance with various laws, regulations, and policies, codes personnel actions for correct processing,
  • Counseling and advising students on eligibility requirements (e.g. 1-9 navigation) and assisting with the related administrative requirements, and
  • Presenting orientations (as needed), outreach programming and workshops related to student employment to students, faculty, and staff.

Performance Area: Graduate Studies (30%)

  • In the Graduate Studies area, the individual in this position works closely with the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Faculty Affairs and will create, coordinate, and evaluate communication plans, meetings, and programming with (and for) graduate students (current, future, and alumni) to complement the efforts of and support unit graduate program directors/coordinators, ECU Graduate School, and others involved in graduate studies (e.g. logistical support such as system entry of faculty advisors, form creation and processing, initiation and stewarding of graduate assistantship contracts, survey administration, and other tasks).

Performance Area: Faculty Affairs (30%)

  • In the area of Faculty Affairs, the individual in this position will support and advise College administrators in faculty development activities, including but not limited to development of materials for programming and other logistical support.

Performance Area: Other responsibilities (10%)

  • Assist with college events and special initiatives (Office of Health Aging, Prevention Science Programming, and similar initiatives).

It is expected that the individual filling this position will contribute to broad based management of the college by providing input to policy and procedure decisions, contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures or backgrounds, and maintain competency and professional currency through self-directed professional reading, developing professional networks, engaging in professional development activities, and attending training and/or courses required institutionally or needed for continued effective service.

  • Component in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Banner.
  • Excellent communication skills and computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Banner is highly recommended. Experience working at a university is preferred.
