About the Office of Admissions
The Office of Admissions, located in the Division of Enrollment and Access, is tasked with enrolling an incoming student body consistent with the mission and vision of access, research, teaching, service and engagement at Colorado State University. Admissions is responsible for coordinating enrollment efforts across the university related to inclusive recruitment and counseling, marketing, application, strategy, and technical support functions for most prospective students. With over 50 full-time staff and an additional 60 student employees, duties range from marketing and communication, prospective student events, application processing and decisions, enrollment strategy, recruitment and outreach, customer service, systems support and data analytics. Through innovative and strategic approaches, Admissions strives to balance its growth in attracting an increasingly diverse and well-prepared student body while remaining true to its land-grant mission and heritage. We employ a holistic, comprehensive review process to select new undergraduates, not only in light of their preparation, but their potential to successfully contribute to the campus and world community.
About the Work Unit
The Recruitment Team consists of the Director of Recruitment, three Assistant Directors – Resident, Non-Resident, and Transfer Recruitment, and their respective counseling teams who work to assist students in accessing their higher education goals.
Position Summary In this role, you will actively recruit primarily first year students to the university by serving as a guide and advocate for prospective students, families, and communities within your territory. You will make strategic decisions as a territory manager using real-time data, knowledge of your territory, and relationships with community members. You will connect with prospective students and families virtually and in person and through channels including email, phone, text, and video. You will serve as the face of the university at recruitment events, information sessions, and during off-campus engagements. This is a twelve-month, full-time permanent position with some travel and evening/weekend commitments. The position will be based in the Fort Collins area.
Required Job Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Past experience in admissions, college counseling, or B2C sales experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Demonstrated presentation and public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity, inclusion, respect, service, and social justice.
  • Able to work irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the proposed start date.
  • An understanding of the Land Grant Mission of Colorado State University
  • Experience working with diverse populations

Essential Duties

Job Duty Category Recruitment and Territory Management
Duty/Responsibility
  • Manage a geographic recruitment territory by utilizing data, critical thinking and analysis, and intentional engagement with prospective students, families, and communities within the assigned territory.
  • Plan and execute year-round recruitment travel (approximately 8-10 weeks), representing CSU at events such as high school visits, college fairs, one-on-one appointments, information sessions, and other recruitment events.
  • Application of integrity, inclusion, respect, service, and social justice in all parts of recruitment for CSU

  • Counsel prospective students and their families/advocates through the enrollment process, including navigating campus systems, requirements, processes, and resources.
  • Respond to phone, email, and text inquiries in a timely fashion.

  • Assist with recruitment programs, including visit days for prospective students and spring admitted student events.
  • Conduct presentations—both in-person and online—for prospective students and their families
