BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/Assignment: 

The Adolescent Health Consultant will support remotely the Maternal Newborn Adolescent Health Unit. The Health Specialist (Adolescent Health, Mental Health, School Health) will be the consultancy contract manager. The Adolescent Health Consultant is responsible for facilitating and supporting implementation, monitoring, and reporting on the Global AstraZeneca YHP- UNICEF Partnership, UNICEF Zurich Foundation mental health programme, WHO UNICEF Joint programme on mental health, JO Malone-UNICEF mental health programme, and Sony-UNICEF partnership on adolescent health and mental health. The consultant provides facilitation and support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results according to the partnership agreement and amplify the work in 17 UNICEF adolescent health programme countries in promotion of mental health including through digital formats, health system strengthening efforts for integration of child and adolescent mental health and inform adolescent NCD prevention programming in other regions and countries.

Scope of Work:

• Implementation and Monitoring Support:

• Review and align country workplans under AstraZeneca, Zurich Foundation, Jo Malone, and SONY partnerships for adolescent NCD prevention and mental health integration.
• Facilitate with global and regional teams to promote NCD and mental health awareness among adolescents via UNICEF digital platforms.
• Provide technical assistance to ensure effective implementation, monitoring progress against targets, and timely reporting on program outcomes.

• Facilitation and Reporting:

• Facilitate resource mapping and validation of the WHO-UNICEF child and adolescent mental health training package for primary health care, ensuring quality and relevance across settings.
• Assist in developing proposals for global adolescent health programming, integrating inputs from partners to align with UNICEF’s strategic goals.
• Facilitate with regional and country offices to produce comprehensive reports, including annual donor reports and evaluations, to demonstrate program impact and outcomes.

• Capacity Building and Knowledge Management:

• Facilitate capacity-building activities for country teams on adolescent health, mental health, and NCD prevention strategies.
• Support knowledge product development such as case studies and policy briefs to promote evidence-based practices in adolescent health programming.
• Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among UNICEF staff, partners, and stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and innovation.

Develop template and coordinate orientation (compilation of partnership information, M&E requirements, and activity plan templates) to 4 regional offices and 15 country offices on inception planning for the development of Helping Adolescents Thrive Works plans (under ZZF phase 2 partnership countries)

Qualifications

(1) Education

• Master’s degree in public health, school health, global health, nursing, or medicine

(2) Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

• Master’s degree in public health, international health, global health, medicine, nursing etc.
• proven experience in adolescent health programme for more than 7 years in country, regional and international level.
• Prior experience working with UNICEF at global or regional and country level on adolescent health programming
• Strong command English is required.

Requirements: 

Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and

• Financial proposal that will include/ reflect :
  • the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
  • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
  • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
  • Indicate your availability
• Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
• At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
• Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
