The service is hosted by Nottinghamshire County Council.This is an excellent opportunity to join the Recruitment, Assessment, and Placement Team, an established team who work across the Adoption East Midlands region and are responsible for the recruitment, preparation, and assessment of aspirant adoptive parents, as well as matching and pre-order support to families.This is an exciting time in our service development as we continue to shape our service by developing new working practices to ensure children and young people and their families are effectively supported throughout their adoption journey.We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Social Work England registered social worker who has at least 3 years post qualifying experience. The successful candidate will need to evidence an awareness and understanding of the lifelong nature of adoption; the skills and attributes that are required to adopt, the principles of therapeutic parenting, as well as the on-going needs of adoptive families caring for children who have a background of developmental trauma.An ability to write clear, concise and analytical adoption assessments is a core skill of this position. You will also be involved in developing and co-delivering our adopters learning and development programme, facilitating peer support opportunities such as family picnics and recruitment events. You will need to be highly organised, flexible, and able to build excellent interpersonal relationships with families, colleagues, and our Local Authority partners alike. We have a supportive team environment, and you will have the opportunity for professional training, peer reflection, as well as regular supervision.We strive to improve our services for Black children and families and other minoritized groups within our region. To do this, we would like the ethnicity of our social work team to be more reflective of our region’s diverse population. It is essential that you are IT literate and ideally have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.The office base for this role will be Trent Bridge House in West Bridgford however AEM operate a hybrid office / home working policy to meet the needs of the service.
