Your Opportunity

Our Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) are the lead provider for the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region. The team work from a intersectional-feminist lens, with a focus on providing victim survivors and their children support to live a life free of family violence.

The Orange Door was established as a result of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Family Violence and provide specialist support and tailored advice for victim survivors, families and children, and perpetrators. The advice provided is based off contemporary risk assessment tools and guidance.

The goals of The Orange Door are to be a more visible and accessible contact point for service users requiring specialist support. Victim Survivors and their children are at the heart of everything our practitioners do and our goal is to provide them the best support possible.

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to provide specialist family violence expertise that drives an integrated response by supporting practitioners working with victim survivors of family violence and their children. This role forms part of the practice leadership group comprising a second Advanced Family Violence Practice Leader, Integrated Practice Leader, Child & Young Persons Practice Leader, an Aboriginal Practice Leader and a Men’s Family Violence Practice Lead.

The Advanced Family Violence Practice Leader will work as part of a team working collaboratively to improve capability, integrated practice and provide specialist knowledge.

Your skills and experience

  • A minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or related
  • Experience working with victim survivors and their children
  • Experience in comprehensive risk assessments
  • An understanding of the Child, Youth and Families Act 2007 and the Family Violence Protection Act 2008.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • You will have advanced practice experience working with multiple and complex needs associated with inter-sectional issues in current practice with family violence referrals
