This is an exciting opportunity to enhance NRC’s public presence and engage with the public in Sweden through media and NRC digital channels. You will be responsible for externally reporting on the results of projects funded by the Swedish public. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Operational Manager of NRC Sweden and the rest of the NRC Sweden administration team on legal, financial, and administrative tasks as needed.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking someone with a background in communication and/or media, who is interested in working in the non-profit sector and who speaks English and Swedish fluently. You need to be especially skilled at Swedish in spoken and written form, and you are confident in engaging with the media. It is advantageous to have previous experience of working for a humanitarian organisation.

This is a full-time position for 12 months with possibility of extension.

What you will do:

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategies for increased presence in Sweden on displacement crisis and the work of NRC.
  • In coordination with the global media team, pitch story ideas, hooks and media products to Swedish media. Develop and nurture media contacts, coordinate and manage interviews.
  • Act as a spokesperson for NRC Sweden in written and broadcast media interviews.
  • Translate and adapt NRC media and communication products and make it relevant to the Swedish audiences e.g. press releases, statements, talking points, articles.
  • Plan, create and edit communication products for NRC Sweden digital platforms and channels to create engagement and acquire leads for NRC fundraising, aligning with lead generating strategy for global markets.
  • Responsible for day-to-day communication with target audiences on social media (community management).
  • Responsible for developing templates for grant reporting in cooperation with Field Operations.
  • Responsible for developing reports on project funded by NRC Sweden to external stakeholders according to requirements set by relevant stakeholders like Giva Sverige.

What you will bring:

  • Higher education, minimum bachelor’s degree level from media/ communications, or relevant work experience.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience of communication/ media work.
  • Communication skills and ability to represent the foundation to different internal and external stakeholders.
  • Based in Sweden with Swedish BankID.
  • Structured worker, understanding of legal and financial matters, and how a non-profit works.
  • Ability to work with partners and authorities such as the Swedish fundraising Control, auditors, and other institutional framework.
  • Experience from and an interest in the humanitarian field.
  • Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and verbal.
  • Good presentation and representation skills.

What we offer:

  • Duty station: Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Contract: National Temporary, 12 months contract with the possibility of extension.
  • Salary/benefits: Grade 8 on NRC’s regional salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
