Job description
Bangladesh, one of the most densely populated countries in the world, is being affected by the impacts of climate change severely. The current urbanisation rate of 3.2%, which is rapidly accelerating due to climate-induced migration, leads to a complete overload of traffic and transport systems in cities and its unregulated growth results in enormous economic problems as well as damage to the environment and health. Bangladesh’s transport sector emissions are primarily generated from fossil fuel combustion activities. The country intends to cut transport sector emissions by 2030 as outlined in Government’s various policy documents. In this context, the proposed Technical Cooperation Module “Transition to Sustainable E-Mobility” builds on commitment of German development cooperation in the Framework of the Development Cooperation Programme in Bangladesh.
Your tasks
- Assume responsibility for the implementation of activities and measures of the project Transition to Sustainable E-Mobility in close coordination with the implementation and political partners, including and contributing to quality assurance, strategic planning, supporting the implementation of a monitoring and evaluation system as well as timely reporting to the client
- Conceptual design and advice in case redirection and amendment of the project is needed, is at the core of your tasks
- Ensure adequate technical quality of the results and take care of the knowledge management within the knowledge management framework of GIZ
- Support the commissioning manager in developing and strengthening the relationship with key stakeholders supporting the external and internal exchange and communication in the field of E- Mobility dialogue
- Support the commissioning manager in representing GIZ Bangladesh to clients and external partners in the relevant networks and sectors of Germany and Europe as well as Bangladesh and Southeast Asia
- Contribute to the strategic and conceptual development of the overall program in coordination with the client and continuous review and active identification of business opportunities in the subject area of E- mobility and in general in Energy
Your profile
- Advanced university degree (master or equivalent) in relevant fields such as energy, environmental science, engineering, economics (other degrees with relevant practical experience are eligible for application)
- Several years of professional work experience in implementing projects related to energy transition, transformative change or other sustainable development topic, including large volume contracts
- A strong technical and policy understanding of energy transition, urban mobility and E-Mobility. Preferably, several years of experience in the field of E-Mobility
- Professional work experiences in international cooperation, cross-cultural setting and facilitating for change
- Broad working experience with GIZ including practical experience with relevant clients and commissioning processes in the sector is an asset
- Working experience in South Asia is an asset
- High level of engagement, team spirit, reliability, intercultural and gender sensitivity, and sound diplomatic skills
- Organizational, cooperation and communication skills, as well as negotiation skills, gender responsiveness, intercultural competence and a keen sense for politically relevant issues and strategic issues of transformation
- Strategically and analytically thinking and acting and ability to grasp new concepts rapidly and prioritize key topics
- Fluent in English, fluent in German is an asset
