Summary
Save the Children’s Individual Philanthropy Group (IPG) is seeking a dedicated prospect researcher to play a pivotal role in our mission to drive transformative fundraising initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Prospect Research & Strategy, this position is at the heart of our efforts to secure major and principal gifts that enable us to make a lasting impact on children’s lives worldwide.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Donor Research & Fundraising Analysis (60%)
- Strategically identify, qualify, and research prospective and existing individual donors to expand our major and principal gift opportunities.
- Analyze donor data and insights to inform frontline fundraisers in their cultivation strategies. Work closely with IPG to offer strategic expertise; act as a guidance resource, providing ongoing advisory services and trainings to enhance their fundraising capabilities and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Senior Advisor of Prospect Research to develop and execute innovative research strategies.
- Engage with Trustee Relations team to identify potential board members and conduct comprehensive research to support the development of our board pipeline.
- Perform due diligence and risk assessment to ensure alignment between fundraising efforts and organizational values.
- Continually monitor trends in philanthropy to ensure our fundraising strategy aligns with current best practices. Use these insights to proactively implement changes and improvements in our fundraising approach, advising on the application of these trends, providing strategic recommendations, and working closely with the team to ensure effective implementation.
Data Analytics, Interpretation, and CRM Integrity (25%)
- Utilize predictive modeling to identify prospects and forecast giving behavior, leveraging past tendencies, interests, and demographics.
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of donor information within the CRM system, upholding the highest standards of privacy and data integrity.
- Partner with other teams, including, Business Technology, Midlevel Giving, Corporate Partnerships, Strategic Foundation Partnerships, and the Office of the President to implement data-driven initiatives that enhance agency functionality.
Ad Hoc and Miscellaneous Projects (15%)
- Evaluate potential vendors to identify new opportunities that align with our organizational needs.
- Lead projects with limited risks, as required by the evolving needs of the organization and the Individual Philanthropy Group.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Blackbaud CRM or similar donor database software.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, organized, and comprehensive research briefings.
- Ability to collect and research data; design workflows and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze philanthropic patterns, trends, and relationships and among individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in using research tools such as Lexis Nexis, Relationship Science, Wealth-X, or other similar platforms.
- Understanding of financial documents, including SEC forms, to conduct comprehensive wealth analyses.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables, to synthesize information and draw actionable insights.
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
- Geo 1 – NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $84,150 – $94,050 base salary
- Geo 2 – Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $76,500 – $85,500 base salary
- Geo 3 – Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $68,850 – $76,950 base salary
