Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Tjungu (together) team provides support, advocacy and case management to ngaltutjara tjuta – people with disabilities, elderly people, and their carers & families. Tjungu was chosen as the title for the program to reflect the fact that aged, disability and mental health issues often overlap and require workers and families to meet these challenges together. Tjungu philosophy and principles support the rights of older Anangu people and people with disabilities to live in their community so that family and relationships can be maintained and spiritual and physical connections with country are continued.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The ACSC role will support Anangu Aged Care Connectors (ACC) in all aspects of their work including; to identify clients and to navigate access to appropriate local aged care support services. This role will assist clients to understand their aged care service entitlements, including My Aged Care registration, contractual arrangements and costs, and will help ensure Elders and their family are well-prepared for plan reviews and outcomes. This role will liaise with aged care Assessors to ensure Elders are well-supported throughout the assessment process. Underpinning the role are two key work practices: cultural safety and trauma informed practice.

ABOUT YOU

You will work within a supportive, trauma-informed framework and we provide a comprehensive culturally aware orientation program. You will receive best practice clinical supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 35 days of annual leave and 15 days of personal leave. We also provide use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.
