Job Description
The Agricultural Manager will be pivotal in overseeing and coordinating agricultural activities. She/He will manage a team of agricultural specialists, implement agricultural projects, and ensure the efficient operation of our agricultural initiatives across various locations in NW Syria.
She/He must have strong experience in designing and implementing projects that support climate change. In addition to high experience in the subject of modern irrigation techniques
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Management:
·Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of agricultural specialists, including agronomists and field officers.
·Provide guidance, support, and training to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
·Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on achieving organizational goals and objectives.
Planning and implementation
·Develop comprehensive agricultural project plans, including goals, timelines, and resource requirements.
·Coordinate and oversee the implementation of agricultural projects, ensuring adherence to established protocols, standards, and budgetary constraints.
·Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or obstacles, and implement corrective measures as needed to ensure project success.
Staff Management:
·Direct supervision of the agriculture team, providing ongoing leadership to the team and oversee implementation and coordination of activity plans to ensure targets are met.
·Support work plan development and reporting to ensure accurate monitoring and documentation of activities.
·Ensure project staff understands and follows IRC and donor Policies and Procedures
·Coordination:
·Internal – closely work with and share information with other sectors in IRC and coordinate with support unit and other ERD departments to request all operations related to purchasing and paying dues to beneficiaries.
·The agricultural manager directly coordinates with the immediate supervisor/ Direct supervisor Deputy ERD Coordinator CRRD – Syria to ensure program materials and partner payments are made timely.
·External – local partners – assist in the development work plan, ensure smooth implementation of quality program and ongoing support for partner capacity building.
Monitoring & Evaluation and reporting
·Regularly monitor project progress, assess impact, and identify areas for improvement.
·Collaborate with the M&E team to collect data, track indicators, and measure outcomes.
·Adapt strategies based on evidence and lessons learned.
Resource Management and Budgeting:
·Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient utilization of funds.
·Procure necessary agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, tools) and equipment.
·Maintain accurate records of expenditures and project-related documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement:
·Work closely with local communities, government agencies, and other NGOs.
·Foster partnerships to enhance project sustainability and promote knowledge sharing.
·Represent the organization in relevant forums and working groups.
·Reporting and Compliance:
·Prepare timely and high-quality project reports for donors and stakeholders.
·Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, and legal regulations.
·Commitment to humanitarian principles and community development.
