The Agronomist is in charge of designing, implementing and monitoring, agricultural programs in Mindanao under the technical guidance from the Economic Security coordinator. The post holder is expected to travel extensively to all the side when requested. As part of the Economic Security team, the Agronomist is expected to collaborate with his/her peers and to contribute to the data collection, data analysis and reporting.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Undertake agricultural assessment in selected areas of operation;
* Designs agricultural programs based on the findings of the assessments;
* Designs training modules for farmers;
* Trains beneficiaries on sustainable agricultural practices and organic farming;
* Follow-up the farming plots and provide technical guidance to the farmers
REQUIRED PROFILE
* Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or agriculture;
* At least 3-5 years’ professional experience in agricultural programs,
* Knowledge on and experience in organic farming and/or seed multiplication.
* Fluency in written and spoken English, Tagalog, Bisaya and Maguindanaon is an asset;
* Good geographical knowledge of Mindanao;
* Good interpersonal skills and a good network of contacts; and
* Flexibility to work several weeks in the field and to travel to different areas.
