The Agronomist is in charge of designing, implementing and monitoring agricultural programs in Mindanao under the technical guidance of the Economic Security coordinator. The post holder is expected to travel extensively to all the sites when requested. As part of the Economic Security team, the Agronomist is expected to collaborate with his/her peers and to contribute to data collection, data analysis and reporting.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Undertake agricultural assessment in selected areas of operation;
• Design agricultural programs based on findings or assessments;
• Design training modules for farmers;
• Train beneficiaries on sustainable agricultural practices and organic farming; and
• Inspect farming plots and provide technical guidance to the farmers
REQUIRED PROFILE
• Bachelor’s degree in agronomy or agriculture;
• At least three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in implementing agricultural programs;
• Knowledge of and experience in organic farming and/or seed multiplication;
• Fluency in written and spoken English, Tagalog, Bisaya and Maguindanaon;
• Good knowledge of Mindanao’s geography;
• Good interpersonal skills and a good network of contacts; and
• Willingness to work and travel to different areas for several weeks.
