Details
Mission and objectives
The Office of the Special Adviser on Africa is responsible for assisting the Secretary-General in coordinating, integrating and aligning United Nations action on the interlinkages between peace, security, human rights and development in Africa, enhancing international support for Africa’s development and security and facilitating intergovernmental deliberations on Africa at the global level, in particular those relating to the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), which was recently transformed into the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD.
Context
Based on the Office’s mandate, vision, and mission, OSAA is strengthening the data capacity for evidence-based decision-making, advocacy, and policy monitoring and evaluation to support Africa’s transformative agenda. To fulfill this mandate of evidence-based decision-making, SMU data is orchestrating a data eco-system in the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform to feed data into various applications, including a Power BI dashboard. The online volunteer is expected to support the SMU Data Unit to improve the existing data-driven eco-system, which pipelines data from various sources to create a data repository for informing decision-making and policy proposals on development issues.
