Org. Setting and Reporting
The position is located in the Aviation Section within the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). The Air Operations Assistant will be based in Goma. The incumbent reports to the Head of Air Region Unit, Aviation Section.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Air Operations Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Ensures Documentation Control and that SOPs, policy, guidelines, and procedures are in place 2. Plan and coordinate daily projected task orders and air support requirements. 3. Assist in coordinating diplomatic over flight/ landing clearances, ground handling support and hotel accommodation/meals transportation arrangements for aircrews. 4. Assists in the administration of all activities related to quality assurance and standardization, including risk managements. 5. Provides advice of any Landing Zone surface problems. 6. Assists in flight following and coordinating the integrated search and rescue operations for UN air assets assigned to the mission. 7. Assists in planning aircraft parking locations, evacuation, VIP flights, and military operational flights. 8. Assists in monitoring fuel upload. 9. Assists in ensuring that aircrafts are properly parked. 10. Assists in monitoring ramp access. 11. Performs other related duties as tasked by the supervisor.

Work Experience
A minimum of three (03) years of progressively responsible experience in Air Transportation Operations or related fields is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English and French (both oral and written) is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
