Within the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, the ANP is a strategic operational development unit focused on innovation and the maintenance of airspace, procedures and sustainable MUAC operations.
Your role will be to:
- Collaborate with and support project managers/initiators in definition and scope of work packages.
- Organize, coordinate, and participate in trials, validation, and real-time simulations.
- Provide essential support in the development of safety cases for airspace and network planning projects including investigation of occurrences raised by OPS personnel.
- Support the post-operations analysis to evaluate the success and efficiency of implemented projects.
- Provide support in conducting studies to validate airspace management economy and new CNS/ATM concept elements.
- Edit Letters of Agreement (LoA) and prepare content for other relevant aeronautical documentation.
- Participate in the design of new sectors and airspace configurations and contribute to the development of new Air Traffic Flow and Capacity Management (ATFCM) methods and tools.
- Prepare and participate in negotiations with Airspace Redesign experts from neighbouring ANSPs (civil and military) regarding airspace changes, delegations, and capacity management agreements, as well as Route Availability Document (RAD) negotiations.
- Provide input for the development of the overall strategy and planning to optimize the MUAC airspace and contribute to the coordination and development of operational requirements in alignment with the long-term objectives of the ATM domain.
- Prepare for and actively participate in meetings, workgroups, and projects, including those at international fora (e.g., FABEC), and building professional relationships with MUAC’s partners.
- Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:
- Completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more, in a relevant area (Aeronautical engineering, Air Traffic Management, etc.) or
- Completed university studies attested by a diploma and appropriate professional experience of at least one year when the normal period of university education is at least three years or
- Professional training of an equivalent level (ATC training).
- Internal candidates can check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience.
- Experience in a Control Centre with a traffic complexity* comparable to the one of Maastricht UAC would be considered an advantage.
- Complexity in terms of multilayer sectorization, climbing and descending traffic, military traffic/exercises, multiple crossing points and multiple aircraft profiles
- Experience in airspace and network planning, including involvement in project management.
- Experience in analysing data within the context of Air Traffic Management (ATM) operational environments, including the ability to extract insights and make informed decisions based on data-driven findings.
- Technical drafting skills in English, enabling the clear and precise communication of complex ATM concepts, plans, and documentation.
- Understanding of Airspace Design processes and ATM principles, encompassing the knowledge required to develop, adapt, and optimize airspace configurations for efficient air traffic flow.
- Knowledge of simulation tools (e.g., NEST)
- Following skills/experience will be considered as advantage:
- Knowledge of/experience with the Route Availability Document (RAD)
- Knowledge of/experience with military airspace operations
