As the alumni adviser, you will develop engaging, career-development programming and group workshops specific to the needs of alumni in the creative industries. In this position you will maintain an essential database of student information and interactions for the benchmarks system, documenting the extensiveness and quality of individual and group work. You will work with alumni consulting regularly to help with any issues or concerns they may encounter and to recommend professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities include assisting in planning and executing seminars and other events, developing internship and employment opportunities, developing career development activities, and serving as a liaison with industry professionals. In this role you will build relationships with businesses that can provide alumni career opportunities. You will also coordinate and collaborate with internal departments to schedule employers’ contact within the SCAD community.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic higher education professional with positive communication skills, advanced levels of professionalism, and the desire to contribute to SCAD alumni’s creative career success. They must demonstrate an awareness of students and alums who may require evaluation for a special need or circumstance. It is expected that that the candidate replies in a timely manner to department and institution requests for reporting goals and follows guidelines of the institution and department.

Minimum Qualifications:     

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience in career advising, content creation, or related field
  • Working knowledge of the career development process and experience working with diverse populations
  • A student-centered focus

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working with Banner, Symplicity, or Salesfore

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license

Travel Required:

  • Less than 10%  

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
