Overview
The AmeriCorps Individual Placement Program Coordinator (Program Coordinator I) is a new position responsible for overseeing the placement AmeriCorps members with non-profit, federal, state and locally focused projects with the Utah Conservation Corps. This position works under the direction of the AmeriCorps Coordinator. This will be a teleservice eligible position with a strong preference for candidates in the state of Utah within proximity of project sites in northern Utah. Periodic travel to project partner sites is required. This is a permanent position that is contingent on continued grant and fee-for-service funding.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates Utah Conservation Corps Individual Placement program.
- Develops new and maintains existing fee-for-service partnerships with higher education, non-profit, and federal, state and local government entities to execute food security and climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience goals of the Utah Conservation Corps.
- Awards Individual Placement AmeriCorps positions to partner organizations. Orients and oversees partner organizations’ compliance to AmeriCorps rules and regulations.
- Receives, reviews, and processes Utah Conservation Corps Individual Placement program applications. Assists Director in issuing agreements and invoicing.
- Develops, designs, and maintains Individual Placement program processes and procedures, including member orientation, training, member development, and progress reporting.
- Provides guidance and training to partner site supervisors and AmeriCorps Individual Placement members.
- Conducts continuous evaluation of program goals, outputs, and outcomes.
- Builds program capacity through mentorship, member training, and networking as well as the sharing of best practices.
- Provides logistical support for Individual Placements including travel, reimbursements and per diem when needed for training and development purposes.
- Coordinates with public relations and marketing staff to properly promote and increase visibility efforts for Utah Conservation Corps Individual Placement program.
- Coordinates with recruitment staff to assist project sites in the recruitment of AmeriCorps members and updating of Utah Conservation Corps website materials.
- Coordinates with Utah Conservation Corps staff and administrators to ensure standardized practices across Individual Placement programs.
- Attends professional meetings and training sessions to improve current Utah Conservation Corps operations.
- Participates in quarterly program staff retreats to address the program areas of strategic planning, recruitment goals, AmeriCorps compliance.
- Travels to partner service locations throughout the state of Utah for site visits.
- Coordinates with the Utah State Commission on Service and Volunteerism to onboard and track AmeriCorps members, maintain member files, verify eligibility, create member service agreements, and process member enrollments and exits.
- Coordinates with USU Student Affairs Business Services to ensure proper onboarding and exiting of AmeriCorps members from AmeriCorps terms of service.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
- Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AmeriCorps member and program management preferred.
- Experience addressing food security and climate issues preferred.
- Experience developing partnerships with federal, state, and non-profit organizations for internship placements preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, environmental education, conservation, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and partnership-building skills
- Advanced organizational skills and ability to use multiple data tracking/reporting systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Program leadership and development experience
- Knowledge of AmeriCorps/National Service, community volunteerism, food security, community gardens, non-profit organizations, and climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience strategies desired.
