Our team is made up of researchers and policy specialists who are passionate about ICF’s mission to build a more prosperous and resilient world for all. We provide the chance to work on some of most important policy issues facing the UK today, from homelessness to climate change, youth violence, education and training (including of vulnerable individuals), and helping making communities more resilient in the face of crises and threats such as floods, communicable diseases and terrorism.Our current portfolio of projects includes work for clients such as the Department for Education, Ministry of Justice, Defra, DLUHC, Greater London Authority, Education and Training Foundation, Department for Health and Social care, Education Endowment Foundation, the Youth Endowment Foundation and the European Commission. We also have a growing behavioural science and behaviour change practice providing research, evaluation and consultancy.This role entails carrying out quantitative analysis and impact evaluation in a wide array of fields and includes tasks such as:

  • data preparation (e.g., cleaning and linking datasets) and producing descriptive statistics;
  • working on quasi-experimental evaluations and RCTs;
  • cost-benefit/cost-effectiveness analyses;
  • contributing to the design, implementation and analysis of quantitative surveys.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge and skills.Essential

  • A clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different evaluations methodologies
  • Good theoretical/practical knowledge of quasi-experimental approaches, such as difference-in-differences, synthetic control and propensity score matching
  • Experience using software packages for quantitative analysis (e.g. STATA or R) in professional contexts
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (e.g. able to translate academic work to non-academic audiences)

Desirable

  • Experience of RCT design, including undertaking power calculations
  • Experience undertaking economic evaluation (e.g., cost-benefit or cost-effectiveness)
  • Knowledge of behavioural science and behavioural change theory and frameworks (such as behavioural economics/Nudge theory, COM-B etc)
  • Experience of conducting online behavioural experiments (such as discrete choice experiments, evaluating interventions using behavioural intentions as the outcome)
  • Experience managing both people and projects
  • Experience responding to competitive tenders
