Purpose of Job

The Analyst, IT Communications & Engagement is responsible for the communication and engagement activity for the IT Department and wider to the business for IT operational matters, and supporting change activities.

 

The role holder will coordinate reactive, time critical IT incident messaging as well as supporting MD, IT and IT Leadership Team (LT) on forward-focused operational campaign communications.  It interfaces with IT Leadership, members of the department, contractors and partners to understand their administration and communication needs and ensure the activities, messages and communications activities created incorporate the needs and insights of the department.

 

It will work closely with internal stakeholders in preparing material and presenting the Technology team’s work in an imaginative way. The role holder will confidently interact with other communications professionals in order to deliver internal material. They will be capable of working across multiple communications channels, including writing and publishing for internal communications channels and will plan and execute communications campaigns, with clear and measurable objectives.

 

Activity includes advising and supporting the IT Leadership Team on their own communication style and methods to position their work in the most effective way, to internal and external stakeholders. This role is also an intrinsic contributor to any people-related change activities within the department.

 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an IT Communications plan for major milestones, activities, and events with relevant approvals.
  • Collaborate with internal departments for people-related communications and content sign-off.
  • Partner with stakeholders, including leadership for effective change communications and associated activities.
  • Write and deliver high-quality materials through newsletters, events, campaigns, presentations, and emails.
  • Support the IT leadership team in preparing strategic & operational communication and high quality presentations. Create monthly staff engagement initiatives, including Lunch & Learn series and all-employee events.
  • Oversee the IT Intranet, translating content and promoting its use within the department, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide insights on IT staff morale and advise on improvement activities.
  • Co-create presentations and speeches for MD IT & Leadership team, ensuring consistent communication standards.
  • Deliver change communications narrative, design toolkits, and proactively address issues.
  • Measure communication effectiveness, recommend improvements, and maintain IT Intranet pages.
  • Organise and manage departmental events, including meetings, conferences, and presentations.
  • Partner with IT leads to schedule campaign messages across channels.
  • Attend weekly IT Leadership meetings to understand grass-roots issues and provide communication support.
  • Liaise between IT Operations and Risk for urgent/emergency communications.
  • Engage with Group Internal Comms meetings to share plans and obtain permission for channel use.
  • Contribute to presentations and speeches for MD IT and publish blog posts for PMs or Leaders.
  • Act as the Guardian of the IT Brand, advising on creative use in department collateral and supporting its evolution.
  • Support the department’s key change initiatives / projects, by assessing user impact & support requirement through effective change management strategies.
  • Conduct best practice analysis for change adoption to support innovation for the Bank. 
  • Develop and maintain a strong range of internal contacts and stakeholders
  • Deliver imaginative treatments of IT’s messages to internal audiences using a wide range of formats and channels.
  • Prepare, edit and publish interesting, compelling and articulate material to promote IT’s work and to deliver key messages internally.  
  • Champion and role model the Bank’s Behavioural Competencies and Corporate Behaviours, ensuring adherence within IT so that the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct are exhibited by the team.
  • Plan, film, edit and script video productions to raise the Technology profile of the Bank to highlight its activities internally.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Relevant business experience in a busy department
  • Strong organisational, admin and change & project management skills with a focus on planning, setting priorities, managing process, and delivering results under tight time constraints
  • The ability to work flexibly, plan and prioritise a diverse workload, support colleagues, as well as work independently is essential
  • Highly developed verbal, written and presentation skills. Creative, persuasive and diplomatic when presenting ideas
  • Able to build internal credibility and become a sought-after and trusted resource for IT communications advice and counsel
  • Confident liaising with colleagues at all levels and proactive in presenting new and innovative ideas to stakeholders
  • High level of integrity is required for this role, while dealing with confidential information while preparing communication content

 

Academic Qualifications:

  • Fluent English, with excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Technology competent able to harness all types of media/channels

 

Skills:

  • Able to organise and plan effectively.
  • Strong digital literacy, including online platforms and understanding of social media, especially LinkedIn & YouTubeExceptional communication skills – both written and verbal.
