In the role of a Part-time Anatomical Curator I you will be working in Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy.

Purpose 

The function of this position is to work in concert with the Anatomical Curator III with operations of the MCW Anatomical Gift Registry/Body Donor Program (Program).  This includes participation in duties required in the MCW morgue, working in conjunction and cooperation with faculty and staff from other departments and institutions to assure that all duties are completed accurately, efficiently, and professionally.  The incumbent is to keep the Program Director and Anatomical Curator III informed on all important issues attendant to the program.

Primary Functions

*Receive, identify, and log in all donated bodies.  Assure that the receiving, blood sampling for infectious disease, and embalming of donors is accomplished in a timely, precise, and professional manner in accordance with established protocols of the Program.

 *Embalm cadavers according to established protocols, preparing them for storage and class or other assignment as designated.  Ensure that all stages of established protocols of the Program are followed.

 *Assure that cremation and final disposition of remains is accomplished in a timely, precise, and professional manner in accordance with the established protocols of the Program.

 *Assure that all required paperwork, donation records, and files are maintained accurately and completed in a timely fashion, following the established protocols of the Program.

*Communicate with donor families and industry partners as needed.

*Keep all work areas clean, neat, and orderly, including monitoring of dissection laboratory as directed by faculty during the academic year. 

*Prepare and disseminate Program Information. 

*Other related duties as may be assigned or required.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

Knowledge and ability to embalm and prepare donors for use in educational and biosciences following protocols in place for uniform processes.


Preferred Schedule:


8 hours per week


Position Requirements:

Minimum Required Education:               Associate in Applied Sciences – Funeral Services

Minimum Required Experience:             0 years prior progressive experience

Preferred Education:                             Funerary Sciences

Preferred Experience:                            2 years prior progressive experience preferred

Field:                                                    Funerary Sciences

Certification:                                          REQUIRED:  Current WI Funeral Director’s License
