About the role

VincentCare Victoria is seeking an appropriately qualified person to take on the position of AOD Clinician – Reconstructing Life After Dependency (RLAD) Program, who has demonstrated experience supporting clients with alcohol and other drugs (AOD) concerns by offering high quality, case management, psychosocial and therapeutic support to clients requiring AOD and mental health support.

The RLAD program is funded by the North West Primary Health Network to support male identifying (including trans-males) clients in their journey of recovery post residential rehabilitation. The Role is based out of Quin House a residential rehabilitation facility located in Fitzroy.

We have a lot of work to do in this space. In your first year you will work on:

  • The RLAD consists three streams of tailored AOD support to clients. These being providing bridging support to clients wishing to access the Quin House residential rehab (providing bridging support) Six months of post residential support post residential treatment support. The role also entails tailored six-week brief intervention support to residents at Ozanam House Crisis & Extended Accommodation Services.
  • Bridging support would include providing psychosocial support and care coordination to clients preparing to enter the Quin House program this includes extensive coordination with referring agencies, detoxification units, community services, health and treatment providers and any other relevant stakeholders.
  • The RLAD program is a 6-month community-based program offering counselling, case management, therapeutic group work, care and recovery coordination and psychosocial intervention. The six-month programs has a dedicated three bedroom property in North Melbourne that allows suitable client to live independently and integrate further into the community via RLAD support. The RLAD Clinician provides regular individual & group supports to these clients ensuring treatment goals are met and the house is functioning cohesively.
  • The RLAD AOD Clinician uses evidence-based, person-centred clinical frameworks and modalities to assist clients to establish achievable goals and create realistic recovery plans that are individualised and empowering. Ultimately, the program supports and encourages people to identify their own self efficacy and achieve sustainable change, taking independent control of their recovery journey.
  • Brief intervention to Ozanam House includes supporting with residents in extended and crisis accommodation setting for up to six weeks, these clients often present with significant complex and acute needs, as such the role requires extensive collaboration with the resident’s key workers, the engagement team of the facility and other relevant stakeholders associated with the clients’ care. Ozanam House has a harm reduction model and framework, supporting residents would incorporate relapse prevention, assessment, and referral to other relevant community services as required.

What We Are Looking For:

Qualifications – Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications – a principle discipline, Cert IV AOD/mental health competencies and minimum three year relevant experience in AOD sector.
  • A current and valid Victorian driver’s license.
  • A current and valid organisational working with children’s check

Experience – Essential

  • Knowledge and capacity to implement comprehensive AOD interventions including assessment, counselling, psychosocial interventions, and case management.
  • Knowledge and practical application of AOD therapeutic frameworks

Skills and Personal Attributes

  • Knowledge of the Alcohol and Other Drug sector and other treatment services relevant to the client group
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and contribute to consistent, yet innovative work practises.
  • A positive approach to work and a capacity to recognise and deal appropriately with challenging behaviours.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage clients with complex support needs.
  • Develop and maintain constructive, empathetic, supportive, and respectful working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Evidenced administrative accuracy and detail, including highly developed time management and organisational skills
