  • SCHCADS Award LV5: hourly rates from $49 to $51.51 (dependent on experience) 
  • Generous NFP Packaging Benefits increasing total pay package up to 18k.
  • Max-term full-time contract until 30 June 2027

Your Role

This newly created role is part of Vinnies’ exciting new partnership with the Salvation Army and will be based at the Wagga Recovery Hub, which provides essential support and culturally safe AOD services.

As an AOD and Domestic / Family Violence (DFV) Care Navigator, you’ll provide expert case management and care coordination, delivering person-led, strength-focused support to clients accessing our recovery service. Collaboration is key as you work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team making a real impact in the local community.

Your Responsibility

  • Provide expert case management and care coordination to individuals accessing our recovery services. Your role is crucial in delivering person-led, strength-focused support to our clients
  • Advocate for Change: Champion the reduction of stigma and discrimination related to alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. Advocate for your clients with government departments, courts, and other service providers to ensure they receive the best possible care.
  • Engage and Empower: Lead intake screenings, comprehensive assessments, and care planning processes. Support clients through evidence-based treatments and psychoeducation programs, both in-person and virtually.
  • Develop, promote & implement referral pathways, connecting clients with a range of community-based health and non-health services. Engage with families and significant others to support the wider community.
  • Collaborate and Innovate: Work with a dynamic multi-disciplinary team in regular clinical reviews and care coordination meetings. Ensure culturally appropriate treatments, especially for Indigenous Australians, and foster strong relationships with local service providers.

You Will Need

  • Qualifications: TAFE Certificate IV in welfare or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven track record in supporting marginalised and vulnerable populations, including those affected by domestic/family violence and AOD issues.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, computer literacy, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Sound judgment in crisis situations and a commitment to safety are essential.
  • License: A valid NSW driver’s license
