Position: Community Volunteer

Location: Remote (United States) – Preference may be given to individuals living in Atlanta, GA.

Commitment: 5-10 hours per week / 2-3 days a week

About Our Organization:

APEX Advocacy is a U.S.-based, registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to increase the number of BIPOC advocating for animal rights. APEX spearheads BIPOC-centered animal rights initiatives and events while also providing a variety of services to nurture the BIPOC animal advocacy community. Our organization consists of a small team of predominantly advocates of color with diverse backgrounds, skills, and life experiences, eager to advocate for animal, human, and earth liberation.

Community Volunteer:

We are seeking a volunteer to help us manage our APEX Advocacy online community. This volunteer will work closely with our director of activism and assist them in managing various facets of our APEX online community. We are seeking someone vibrant with a passion for empowering BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) to be involved in animal advocacy.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Understanding of sociopolitical issues that impact BIPOC, especially as it relates to veganism & animal rights.
• Ability to multitask.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Note-taking skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledgeable of:
  • Anti-Speciesism philosophy.
  • Intersectionality/Anti-Oppression.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion.

Duties:

Assist our team with the following efforts:

• Email subscriber list management.
• Managing APEX Community Slack Channel.
• Collecting and analyzing feedback forms from various events and activities.
• Organizing Google Drive & Calendar.

Software Used By Organization:

• Google Workspace (Google Drive, Calendar, etc.)
• Productivity applications (e.g., Asana, Basecamp, ClickUp)
• Squarespace (Website Management, Newsletter, Email list, Events)
• Social media platforms (Later, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
• Slack
