Ocean Aquatica – Intern Aquarist Position

Marathon, Florida based licensed aquaculture facility specializing in coral propagation for the aquarium trade.

We are looking for some hardworking interns who would love to get some experience in coral propagation, system maintenance care and health of livestock.

You must be reliable and willing to work in a hot humid environment. Rain or shine, the systems need people to care for them.

The aquarist interns will be responsible for every aspect of animal care. Including, but not limited to; aquarium husbandry, water quality sampling and testing, cutting coral, packing orders, recognition and treatment of diseases and other related issues. Do not feel overwhelmed about this! This is an internship for experience!

Must have an eye for detail and the ability to communicate well.

This is an outdoor position in the heart of the Florida Keys. Cannot get better than the Florida Keys!

Description

• Responsible for general care and feeding of coral, fish, and other invertebrates
• Cutting coral
• Water testing and monitoring
• Miscellaneous system maintenance and cleaning duties (ie: siphoning tanks)

Qualifications

• Strong interest in corals and marine invertebrates
• Strong work ethic
• Must be able to work independently
• Good communication skills
• Ability to lift 60 lbs boxes.
• Marine Biology Degree or similar degree (preferred)

full-time position at one of the nation’s largest coral farms.

Minimum of 2 months for full-time internships. With a $800/month stipend. 40 hours a week, must have a flexible schedule.
