Recent and soon to be grads of Master’s Anthropology, Archaeology, or similar programs are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, cultural resource management or a closely related field.
Must meet the Secretary of the Interior Archaeology Qualification Standards
Working knowledge of Section 106 and NRHP criteria
At least 1 year of full-time professional experience or equivalent educational specialized training in archaeological research, administration, or management.
At least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archaeology.
Experience carrying out research to completion.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state cultural resources laws and regulations.
Demonstrated knowledge of archaeological field research methods and scientific report writing.
Demonstrated knowledge of state archaeological and historic inventory information.
Demonstrated ability to identify archeological and cultural resources in the field and help design land management activities to minimize or avoid impacts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe PDF
Experience in data entry and management.
Ability to navigate and hike rugged terrain and work in adverse weather conditions, sometimes independently and in remote locations.
Demonstrated history of positive, responsive, cooperative, collaborative interaction with the public and other professionals (both inter-organizational and interdisciplinary).
Essential Duties:
Complete Phase I and Phase II archaeological surveys (or “Class III surveys) for Section 106 compliance
Prepare and submit FCC Form 620s and 621s for proposed communications tower sites.
Coordinate and correspond with SHPOs and Native American tribes on Section 106 projects.
Manage client projects to include correspondence to clients, problem resolution, and final reports to meet required deadlines.
Manage Archaeologist(s) and/or other cultural resources personnel.
Manage curation laboratory.
