Auburn University Housing and Residence Life is excited to begin the search for an Area Housing Coordinator! This is an exempt, full-time, 12-month, live-in position. The Area Coordinator oversees one or more of the six residential areas. This position requires the incumbent to live full-time, year-round in the assigned area of responsibility. Essential Functions |
- The Area Coordinator oversees and manages the daily operations of a residential area. This is a live-on position that serves in an on-call rotation (about one week every month).
- Directly supervise the Graduate Area Coordinators and indirectly supervise the Resident Assistants in their residential area.
- Responsible for the daily functions of the area, including administrative duties, roommate conflicts, room change requests, and reporting facilities issues.
- Adjudicates student conduct cases, including assigning charges, meeting with students, issuing outcomes, and following up with residents to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Oversees programmatic efforts in their residential area, including maintaining a budget for community development and approving program proposals.
- University Housing maintains a committee structure for the department and the Area Coordinator may chair or serve on departmental committees. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Residence Life.

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. Level I – Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to position with no experience. Level II – Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 2 years experience in residential life/residential education programming Level III – Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 4 years experience in residential life/residential education programming Substitutions allowed for Experience: Graduate degrees accepted in lieu of experience, at a rate of one year relevant education per year of required experience. |

- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education Administration, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Work-related experience in housing and residence life or student affairs.
- Experience in residence life as a graduate student and an advocate for students
- Experience with administrative resolution of student conduct cases
- Have an understanding of how to build a welcoming, safe and inclusive residential community, and appreciation and understanding of trends in student development and student learning
