80400 – Asset Information Business AnalystThis Asset Information Business Analyst will report to the Asset Information Compliance Team Lead and will work within the Strategy Regulation and Support Services directorate based in either our London, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds or Crawley office. You will be a permanent employee.You will attract a salary of £61,723.00 and a bonus of 3%. You will develop data quality management capabilities within the organisation.You will understand the strategic needs from all areas of the business and our external partners about data. You will work as part of a diverse team delivering a portfolio of data related projects to ensure we have reliable and accessible data that provides the basis for sound decisions and strategic planning.You will necessitate networking throughout the company, undertaking regular communication with partners all levels from across all directorates.You will help interpret data and requirements, co-ordinating end to end processes, producing internal reports and assessing opportunities or risks to the business.DimensionsNo line management or budgetary accountabilities.Principal AccountabilitiesYou will work with partners to elicit high-level requirements and capture our needs; understand the customer journey and define user requirements.Engage with partners and influence project decisions; assess the risks of different solutions and prioritize competing business demands.You will promote architectural consistency and usability standards; execute test cases.Identify opportunities for business-led delivery; coach employees to make use of technology and information. Translate technical our requirements, technical data requirements into business information requirementsRecording risks/ issues to be managed and communicate with important partnersWork with the Business to provide a consistent approach to data related plans.Resolve any issues/defects that the Business report, escalating when required.Support UKPN’s strategic goal to enable staff to find, access, share and trust our data and analytics more effectively.Nature & ScopeYou will play an important role to the development and ongoing provision of data management development activities to help deliver the organisation’s main goals.You will have responsibility to identify and embrace best practice. You will demonstrate a strategic focus on long term aims and goals while dealing tactically with daily data and information management issues.You will be asked to demonstrate high-calibre analytical skills along with the presentation capabilities necessary to deliver value to the business. You will have collaboration abilities along with excellent IT skills, including a sound knowledge of end to end processes to understand the businesses reporting requirements. An understanding of the terminology used within the electrical distribution industry is also indispensable.Working as part of a small high calibre team, you will have the ability to influence and co-ordinate others throughout the business, building lasting working relationships and being a team player.Qualifications & ExperienceQualified to degree level in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience.Sound knowledge of Business Intelligence strategies, methodologies and frameworks.Project / Programme management qualification at Prince2 level or equivalent.Experience with the strategic principles and practices of data and information management.Advanced IT skillsImportant Behaviours & CompetenciesApply different strategies to convince others to change their opinions or plans and ensures that proposals or arguments are supported by logic and a compelling business case.Use judgement to form conclusions that may challenge conventional wisdom and focuses on the crux of issues to identify high leverage intervention points and strategies.Convey complex and technical business issues to diverse audiences.Try to understand the needs and deliver prompt, efficient quality service.Analyse and grasp complex situations and create well-reasoned solutions.Understanding of the terminology used within the electrical distribution industry.Delivery and Customer focused.Demonstrate commitment to professional development.Will facilitate meetings and conduct presentations.Be an excellent collaborator, engaging with multiple technical and business stakeholders and leaders.Understand the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term perspectives of situations.Display curiosity and integrity.Experience formulating plans to meet long-term goals.Analyse program and portfolio needs, and determine the resources needed to overcome barriers.Health & Safety ResponsibilitiesManagers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations.
