Skills/Qualifications

The successful candidate should:

  • demonstrate a broad knowledge of English linguistics, discourse analysis and sociolinguistics with emphasis on the analysis of natural language data;
  • have research experience in the field and a relevant publication record (publication of original research, participation in conferences and workshops);
  • demonstrate readiness to pursue post-doctoral research and didactic activity related to theoretical investigations and testing of communicative competence; experience in the analysis of spoken and written data collected in scientific and educational contexts, as well as the ability to use computer software and new technologies in the analysis of language data, including testing linguistic competence, or intercultural differences and studying sociophonetic factors;
  • speak excellent English and Polish; the knowledge of other languages will be an asset;

Duties of the Candidate :

1. research-related duties: active participation in activities in the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics, active participation in scientific conferences and systematic publishing of research results in listed scientific journals and in monographs. The candidate is expected to carry out research in line with the Department’s field of specialisation;

2. didactics-oriented duties: The appointee will deliver classes in the broadly defined field of linguistics, including sociolinguistics and discourse analysis, as well as other courses offered by the Department and the Institute of English; 

3. other activities – Additional duties will include official assessment of students’ progress, and contributing to academic programmes developed in the Department..

Additional advantages include : 

The experience in organising conferences or festivals, as well as the experience in editorial and team work, as well as in testing and testing-related research will be an asset.
