Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director – Athletic Compliance provides support to the daily function of the Athletic Compliance office. Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletics Director – Compliance, this position performs activities to assist coaches, student-athletes, staff members and others with understanding and adhering to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Sun Belt Conference. This position will primarily be responsible for oversight of the eligibility certification process to ensure student-athletes comply with progress-toward-degree regulations (Bylaw 14), financial aid (Bylaw 15), and National Letters of intent or institutional financial aid processes. Additionally, this position will work in coordination with the Senior Associate Athletics Director of Compliance to provide rules education to student-athletes and staff and monitor all other compliance processes.
Responsibilities
- Manages the creation, facilitation, and distribution of all financial aid documentation both external to and internally within the University for the Department of Athletics – to include National Letters of Intent for Georgia Southern Athletics
- Serves as primary liaison to Financial Aid, Registrars’, International Office, and Admission’s office as necessary
- Monitors each sport’s playing and practice season calendar to ensure compliance with NCAA rules pertaining to NCAA Bylaw 17
- Assists with the utilization and continued development of ARMs Software
- Trains coaches, athletes, and staff how to use ARMS software for financial aid and academic purposes
- Manages student-athlete employment monitoring and approval
- Oversees student-athlete outside competition requests and education efforts
- Oversees the camps and clinics request and approval process for the department
- Process NCAA waivers as appropriate
- Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, NCAA, regulations
- Conduct and assure the timely investigation, resolution and self-reporting of NCAA and Conference rules violations, as they may occur
- Manages oversight of all certifications of eligibility review, tracking and oversight in cooperation with the athletics academic staff, the Faculty Athletics representative and the Registrar’s office
- Reviews and updates compliance policies and procedures as needed
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and changes related to compliance in intercollegiate athletics
- Assists the Senior Associate Athletics Director of Compliance with completion of NCAA Mandatory reports and attestations along with other report data
- Assist with educational efforts within the Athletic Compliance office
- Develops and distributes effective compliance related materials
- Oversees data management of all Compliance Assistant (CAi) for athletics
- Maintains and submits squad lists as necessary
- Assists with the provision of interpretive guidance in alignment with NCAA, Sun Belt Conference, regulations for coaches, student-athletes, and staff
- Analyzes NCAA, Big South Conference, Southern Conference, and Coastal Carolina Swimming Association rules and regulations to develop procedures for implementation and ensure compliance
- Assists with the training of coaches, athletes, and staff on use of compliance software
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Required Experience
- Two (2) or more years of related work experience

- Master’s Degree or Juris Doctorate
Preferred Experience
- Experience using ARMS and all NCAA software applications (RSRO, Transfer Portal, Academic Portal, LSDBi, Compliance Assistant)
Proposed Salary
$50,000 – $65,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
