  • Your next career step: 2IC role to coach & mentor our teachers and educators.
  • Increase take-home pay with up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits.
  • Full-time parental leave replacement to April 2025, 9-day fortnight, based in Reservoir.

About the opportunity

The next step in your career in early childhood education is here.

As our Assistant Coordinator (2IC), you will work closely with the Merrilands leadership team to coach and mentor our teachers and educators in our Reservoir service, as well as support the day-to-day operations.

Working within our learning frameworks and service philosophy, you will incorporate various teaching strategies, including intentional teaching and reflective practice, in your daily work.

It’s a great opportunity to progress your career in this hands-on role. You will work across all rooms, with one office-based day per week, alongside our Coordinator.

What’s on offer

The role is a full-time parental leave replacement to April 2025 with the benefit of working a 9-day fortnight.

We invest in your career through ongoing professional development, and you will be supported by situational leadership that guides you and adapts to meet your needs.

In addition to a base salary between $34.53 and $37.37 per hour (Professional Childcare Level 5) and superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading and the ability to increase your take-home pay by accessing up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits, which can be used for living expenses such as groceries, bills, clothing, streaming services, and much more.

With our meal entertainment benefit of $2,650 annually, you can save on dining out and drinks, making the most of your pre-tax dollars.

You can also increase your annual leave entitlements through our purchase leave program, access paid parental leave for up to 10 weeks, and receive a 60% staff discount on the childcare subsidy gap fee when using a Uniting Early Learning service or centre.

About you

You are a motivated and experienced early childhood learning professional who is passionate about people and learning. You enjoy being ‘on the floor’ and are known by your peers as the go-to person for knowledge and support.

You are proactive in your day-to-day work, supporting our employees and children on their learning journey. You easily establish rapport with people and leverage this to engage in critical reflection around professional growth and development.

You will also bring with you:

  • A completed Diploma in Children’s Services and/or Bachelor of early childhood education and care.
  • Prior experience in a senior or leadership role within a long day-care centre.
  • Sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
  • Current First Aid, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certificates, as well as a valid WWCC/VIT.
