Brief About Foundation for MSME Clusters

Established in June 2005, the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) www.fmc.org.in specializes in the promotion of MSMEs through cluster and value chain led development. FMC was promoted as a Registered Public Charitable Trust with the technical support of a then UNIDO Cluster Development Programme, in June 2005. It is governed by a very eminent Board of Trustees from the Government, Banks, Academia, Donor institutions and NGOs, ably led Mr. Ajay Shankar, IAS (ex-Secretary Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Govt. of India). FMC undertakes all its operations in line with its vision and mission that are given as under:

In India, FMC has worked with around 200 MSME clusters, undertaken studies/research in another 150 MSME clusters and worked with 250 Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) thus benefiting more than 100,000 MSMEs across different sectors and sizes. FMC and its experts have also provided training, handholding, and research on cluster development in 16 other countries across the globe.

About the role :

FMC is looking for a person to be the project coordinator – who reports to and works closely with the Project Head and is responsible for driving the operational results of the project and fostering community engagement and capacity building

Scope of Work:

1. Coordination and Communication: Facilitating communication among team members, stakeholders, and partners. Ensuring that everyone involved is well-informed about project goals, progress, and any changes in plans.
2. Resource Management: Efficiently allocating and managing project resources, including personnel, finances, and materials. Monitoring resource utilization to ensure optimal efficiency.
3. Monitoring and Evaluation: Implementing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess project progress and impact. Collecting and analyzing relevant data to make informed decisions and adjustments as needed.
4. Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. Proactively addressing challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
5. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Building and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and beneficiaries. Ensuring alignment with the broader goals of the development sector.
6. Reporting and Documentation: Compiling regular progress reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Providing transparent and accurate information on project status and outcomes.
7. Capacity Building: Supporting the development of the skills and capacities of project team members and community partners. Promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
8. Adherence to Regulations: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Upholding transparency and accountability in all project activities.
9. Adaptability: Being adaptable to changing circumstances and requirements. Adjusting project plans and strategies to address emerging challenges and opportunities.
10. Advocacy and Outreach: Engaging in advocacy efforts to promote the project’s goals and garner support from relevant organizations and the community. Conducting outreach activities to raise awareness and ensure community involvement.

Education & Experience:

• Post-graduation (or equivalent) qualification in one of the following areas: social sciences, development, economics, livelihood promotion, rural development
• Between 10-12 years of relevant work experience in similar organizational/functional context
• Good communications and presentation skills – write, read and speak in English and Hindi
Other specifications
• Managing programs in a multi-stakeholder environment, managing diverse set of partners including government officials, and representatives from private sector
• Experience working with donor funded project
• Strong organizational and time Management skills
• Proven strategic, conceptual and analytical skills
• Proactive and self-motivated individual capable of engaging with various stakeholders
• A self-starter, able to work independently
• Ability to travel extensively
