Role description:
We are recruiting for an Assistant Cost Consultant (Assistant Commercial Managers) to join our Highways Consultancy business. Ideally located to join the Wales and South West team, come on our journey as we enhance mobility so we can move sustainably in, and between our cities. As an Assistant Cost Consultant at Arcadis you will support and learn the pre and post contract Commercial principles, learning tendering and post contract delivery methods of multiple and mixed portfolios of infrastructure projects.
As part of our Cost Management team, you’ll be involved in a wide range of projects from global and high profile to small and impactful, ensuring they’re delivered on time and to budget. Your expertise in planning, estimating, budgeting and managing costs will drive growth and smarter working.

Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role accountabilities:
- Support your Commercial team to deliver value for money and ensure that fair and effective Commercial Management processes are implemented and maintained throughout the entire project
- Liaise with and support the Procurement teams on the relevant procurement activities required for delivery in accordance with Procurement timelines
- Monitor project budget, pro-actively manage the changes on the project, including project risk registers and contingency with the project’s Delivery teams. This will include accurate periodic reporting and presenting of cost data and Cost of Work Done (COWD), accounting for any variances against budget in all commercial reports within the assigned project portfolio
- Liaise with the Estimating team to provide accurate and current project cost data, evaluating high value changes as required
- Support the undertaking of regular commercial reviews of both internal costs and external supplier costs and implement appropriate measures to manage any issues and mitigate risks
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualification in a related degree
- Some experience in commercial management would be great!
- Some knowledge of the different types of contract (NEC / JCT etc)
- An understanding of commercial principles
- A burning desire to succeed in commercial management
