Assistant Dean of Students for Student Engagement The Assistant Dean of Students will provide advisement, guidance, and act as a resource for the students and student organizations of Langston University. The Assistant Dean contributes to the holistic development of students by coordinating programs, scheduling events, supporting student organizations and clubs, as well as serving the campus-wide community. The Assistant Dean will act as a liaison for students, staff, faculty, vendors and community members to facilitate the success of student programming. The Assistant Dean will conceptualize and execute programs that will enhance the student experience, promote student learning, foster the holistic development of students, and aid in retention efforts. The Assistant Dean must be familiar with all university policies and regulations regarding student information. Additional duties include serving on University-wide committees and assisting with initiatives to support the mission of Langston University. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide direction on all aspects related to student activities and programs Collaborate with Residential Life and Housing Services to create programming in and around the housing properties Assist in the preparation and management of budgets for student activities and programs Assist in the advisement of the Student Government Association (SGA), Student Activities Board (SAB), LU Ambassador Program & LU National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC) Supervise a program coordinator as well as a facility coordinator along with paraprofessional staff Assist in the implementation of a wellness program for the student body that focuses on the emotional, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual well-being of the students. Assist in the production and execution of Langston University’s Elite Connection Pageant Program Serve as a resource to all registered student organizations and advisors Design and implement student organization leader and advisor trainings, including details on Student Life policies, procedures, budgetary matters and applicable University policies and practices Support and administer approved departmental and divisional assessment programs and initiatives Assists in the implementation of residential life educational, social and personal growth programming designed to complement the goals of residence life and the mission of the University Manage the Student Life event proposal process and reservation process of the I.W. Young Auditorium, Atrium, Multipurpose Building, and Student Success Center spaces and other facilities as needed Assist in the coordination of major university-wide special events including but not limited to Lion Camp, Welcome Week, Homecoming, Spring Week, Black History, Women’s History Month, Student Government Association Elections, Friends and Family Weekend, Pageants, and various holiday programs Assist in the coordination of the Student Leadership Institute and Student Leadership Awards Develop/coordinate department marketing materials and establish and maintain a social media presence All other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students Will require night and weekend availability

Position Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college/university in higher education, student affairs, student personnel work, or closely related field. A minimum of 2-4 years of progressive experience in higher education administration. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to foster and promote an integrated team approach to student programming and successfully assess the impact of programs on learning outcomes. Excellent fiscal management, communication, advising and interpersonal skills along with a commitment to dynamic student service and teamwork. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in a higher education setting in student activities, student union or residential life programming and/or experience working with under-represented populations.
