The University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business seeks a self-motivated, high energy, innovative professional to be the next Student Services Advisor II to support students in the MBA for Professionals and Managers (MBA.PM) program.

Marshall’s MBA for Professionals and Managers (MBA.PM) program is an MBA degree designed for fully employed students who complete the degree in 33-months. Classes meet in the fall, spring, and summer semesters, Monday-Thursday evenings, or all day on Saturday. The MBA.PM Program Office supports the education and development of MBA.PM students by providing academic support to students throughout their time in the degree.

The role of the Student Services Advisor II is to help students understand degree requirements; create, clarify, and refine educational goals and plans; connect students with faculty and other Marshall resources, such as Career Services; address concerns and challenges both inside and outside of the classroom that impact academic success; and understand academic policies and procedures. The Student Services Advisor II will work closely with other University and Marshall departments to ensure students are effectively served. The Student Services Advisor II will cultivate relationships within Marshall and central University departments to support students’ degree progress and will provide a full range of services including onboarding newly admitted students, assisting in the coordination of registration for students, and providing graduation counseling and clearance.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides academic counseling for graduate students in the MBA.PM program. Advises on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, graduation counseling and clearance.

  • Monitors student progress to degree, maintains academic unit student records, and assists with petition applications.

  • Evaluates student issues and concerns (academic, administrative, or personal) and refers students to appropriate student support services. Liaise with other offices on behalf of students to facilitate problem resolution.

  • Interfaces with faculty, administrators, and students regarding policies and student academic progress.

  • Maintain currency on policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to registration, course and degree requirements, graduation requirements, petitions and other student services.

  • Serves in a liaison role with central university offices for student health center requirements, health insurance waiver, tuition deferment, tuition refund insurance, parking permits, and financial aid.

  • Participates in the grade letter request process for corporate reimbursements.

  • Assists in the Core class registration process and electives registration.

  • Assists Core faculty in creating alternative exam arrangements for Core students on as-needed basis. Assists Core faculty in facilitating exam arrangements for Core students with pre-approved OSAS accommodations.

  • Assists in planning and administering special programs and events, such as faculty elective advising sessions, and co-curricular events and programs held throughout the academic year, including fall and spring all-PM student networking events.

  • Participates in the organization and implementation of annual Pre-Fall Intensive Strategy classes and PM.GLOBE.

  • Participates in Commencement and various committee-assignments for student services issues.

  • Primary point-of-contact for reporting on Beta Gamma Sigma (annual basis).

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree

  • 2 Years’ Experience

  • Knowledge of USC student and academic programs, policies and procedures and knowledge of the student information system.

Anticipated Hiring Range:

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.34 – $44.03.
