ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The University of South Florida Center for Student Involvement and Fraternity/Sorority Life (CSI-FSL) is a redesigned and combined area at USF position in the Department with 8 full time professional staff, 3 graduate assistants, and over 35 paid student leaders. The Center empowers students to author their own experience through diverse involvement opportunities and educational programs that engage students and leads student academic and personal success while fostering a lifelong affinity to the university. The CSI-FSL staff provide advising, education, and outreach to students within the University community, advocate on behalf of the fraternal experience, and collaborate with alumni, campus departments, community constituents, and (inter)national fraternal organizations to drive the university and departments’ mission. This area consists of the various programming boards, including the Campus Traditions Board (Homecoming and USF Week), Campus Activities Board, University Lecture Series, and Art Gallery (Centre Gallery), 49 fraternities and sororities, and 4 governing councils.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director provides leadership and is responsible for advising and oversight for the programmatic, training and programs and traditions staff development initiatives. This position will lead a team of professional, graduate and undergraduate student staff in the advising of multiple student leader program boards including a free-standing Art Gallery, the Centre Gallery, with over 25 exhibits per year, developing and implementing over 100 programs annually. This position provides oversight for campus-wide involvement initiatives, including the engagement initiatives and their overall involvement in the greater campus community. This position reports to the Director of CSI.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide primary leadership for student program areas within CSI (programs and activities) including Campus Activity Board (CAB), Campus Traditions Board (CTB), Centre Gallery, and the University Lecture Series, while directing one of the three programming boards.
Manage approximately 35% of a 2 million overall CSI budget.
Create and develop, and lead a strategic communications and marketing plan for CSI-FSL incorporating all efforts from grassroots to social media and has the authority to approve all departmental marketing print and promotions.
Lead the Homecoming Operations and Logistics Team inclusive of the University Police Department, Physical Plant, Parking and Transportation Services, Alumni Association, Marshall Student Center, Environmental Health and Safety, and other University Partners.
Create, enhance, and sustain collaborative partnerships with key campus organizations and departments to maximize student co-curricular involvement and success. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The preferred candidate should have a Masters degree in a higher education or related field with at least 3-5 years of experience with higher ed with at least 2-3 years of experience in student programming and traditions (student activities). The ideal candidate must have vision, demonstrated leadership, organizational skills and experience in the areas of communication (oral and written), cultural competency, supervision, program planning and implementation, student group advising, risk management and assessment and evaluation.
