The ACT Victims of Crime Commissioner (VOCC) is seeking an enthusiastic leader to assist with the management of the ACT Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS).

The Assistant Director of FAS will assist the Director to lead and manage a team of assessors and administrative staff to oversee the operation of the FAS, including timely assessment of applications for financial assistance made under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance) Act 2016 and Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance) Regulation 2016.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate and lead people, create a collaborative work environment and high performing team, establish priorities and manage competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively, including experience communicating with vulnerable, diverse client groups about their rights and entitlements.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research and analysis and interpret legislation, regulations and other guideline materials to support financial assistance scheme applications.
  • Proven ability to exercise initiative and self-drive to meet competing deadlines and achieve service improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to organisational change processes including planning, policy development and change implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Notes: This is a full-time permanent position available immediately. An order of merit or merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future similar vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
