Assistant Director for Programming and Engagement

This student-facing Assistant Director advises the Freshman Leadership Program (highly competitive living, learning community comprised of 64 students), is responsible for providing diverse programming for 4000 undergraduate students that engage them in campus life, including late night programming. This position will assist with the management of 275+ student organizations, and evaluates over 4000 student events annually (for clubs in OMA, PHX and regional campuses). This position coordinates the CliftonStrengths initiative including distribution of codes (1100 annually), education and programming on the tool, and assessment of the initiative. This position supervises a small student leadership intern team that develops ongoing leadership development programs, retreats for campus and larger SLIC programs such as Skutt Shutdown, Winter Wonderland, etc.

  • Oversees and advises assigned student organizations (FLP) and the implementation of assigned organizations’ events and management of their budget.
  • Coordinate and implement programming for undergraduate students (CliftonStrengths, special programs and late night programming).
  • Assist with student club management including event review, program support, assessment and policy enforcement.
  • Implements various office functions as assigned.
  • Oversee and manage budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required. Masters’ degree preferred (Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling or related field.
  • One to two years of experience in student affairs preferred.
  • National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • An understanding of the value of holistic student development and of the motivations of students who participate in co-curricular learning experiences is required.
  • An understanding of Gallup’s CliftonStrengths preferred.
  • An understanding of and the ability to apply student development and learning outcomes theories is required.
  • The ability to sustain communication with diverse groups, anticipate problems, reconcile conflicts, and maintain a strong philosophical base for student activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required.
  • Experience in student programming, advising student groups and/or leadership development is required.
  • Demonstrated focus on student education and service to students.
  • An appreciation of the Ignatian tradition required.
  • Night and weekend commitments are required.
