As the assistant director of institutional recognition, you will collaborate as the project manager between the awards organizations, nominated students, school deans, department chairs, and program coordinators to develop and implement awards opportunities for students. This will include designing, leading, and supporting the enhanced SCAD institutional awards program in collaboration with the director of institutional recognition across the university. This position works closely with marketing and PR to highlight student and institutional awards success stories to bring visibility to the university and coordinates with multiple internal departments to create and submit institutional awards to high-visibility national and international competitions.

In the role of assistant director, you will lead quarterly planning meetings with program academic leaders, establish a plan of action calendar for each department with clear workflow deadlines, and maintain a communications average of 200 competitions per year. Daily responsibilities include computing and organizing data management for internal and external reporting, acting as a host for award organization representatives, and offering in-person presentations to encourage participation in collaborative competitions. You will create revised approaches for student awards to conserve university resources, train the institutional awards manager and awards program coordinator, prepare a comprehensive dashboard of high-visibility institutional awards for submission to projects, and collaborate winners service opportunities to ensure maximum visibility for SCAD.

Minimum Qualifications:     

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of progressive experience in project management and communications
  • Previous public relations and marketing experience
  • Proficient editing skills and sharp attention to detail with the ability to manage multimedia content
  • Excellent creative and strategic writing skills
  • Ability to produce efficient results under tight deadlines

Travel Required:

  • 10% to 20%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
