Assistant Director, Mortara Center for International Studies – Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) -Georgetown University

 

Georgetown’s Mortara Center for International Studies promotes scholarly, interdisciplinary research by faculty and students, advancing policy-relevant knowledge about international political, social, and economic issues, and generating communities of research and practice on key global concerns.

 

Job Overview

 

The Assistant Director is responsible for the daily management and representation of the Mortara Center, including outreach and development, event management, and program and budget administration, as well as promotion of the Center’s extensive and varied activities with a consistent and effective message to the Georgetown University campus, the Washington D.C. community and beyond.

 

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

 

The Assistant Director reports to the Mortara Director and supervises all center operations and student employees.

 

This position has been designated as On-Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.  Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field – preference for a Master’s degree in a relevant field – for example, international affairs
  • At least 3 years of closely related professional experience in program administration and event planning – preferably in higher education
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to interact effectively with a diverse community, including students, faculty, staff, university administrators, donors, and media
  • Proficiency with technologies related to the functions of the role
  • Ability to develop proficiency in the Workday Financials system
