This position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans to be used when required for work.

Purpose

Reporting to the Data Business Partner (DBP) for the VP/CFO and VP for People & Talent business teams, the Assistant Director for Data Analytics and Reporting designs and delivers meaningful data and analytics in support of People and Talent strategic initiatives and overall objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support People and Talent with data analytics and reporting needs while supporting the Data Business Partner and team to build and define operational excellence.
  • Design and build technical reporting solutions, using Power BI and Excel, that support and enhance People and Talent’s mandate, support business unit decision-making and ensure data is stored, collected, and integrated efficiently, aligned with quality and privacy guidelines.
  • Deliver sustainable, accurate, and automated analytics, including data modeling, data analytics, and business reporting visualizations.
  • Collaborate with UT’s Data to Insights (D2I) team, IT functional teams, primary business stakeholders, and downstream data consumers to remove barriers, and solve complex data challenges. Work with the People & Talent leaders and data team to determine the right alignment of priorities.
  • Bridge the language of the customer and their business processes for translation into data management capabilities. Work with business stakeholders to embed data management capabilities in their processes.
  • Train, coach, lead, and develop data professionals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with quantitative experience and 8 years of professional experience analyzing data OR Masters degree and 5 years of professional experience analyzing data. Demonstrated passion for using data to answer questions and solve problems related to People and Talent and employee life cycles. Demonstrated proficiency in coding languages such as SQL, R or Python to synthesize complex and/or ambiguous information from multiple sources using a variety of tools and techniques to transform that information into consumable insights. At least five years of demonstrated experience using Workday, Perceptx, PowerBI and Excel to deliver actionable intelligence with People Analytics supporting C-Suite. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to gather data requirements Proven prioritization and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, documentation habits, and attention to detail.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education supporting administration, programming, or analysis. Knowledge of federal education law and policies related to education records. Experience supervising data teams.


Salary Range

$120,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • This position is eligible for hybrid remote work in the state of Texas. Incumbent will be asked to work from the UT Austin Campus in Austin, Texas on occasion for collaboration with peers
  • If working on campus, a standard office environment will be provided
