A newly-created opportunity for an Assistant Director of Sport to join Surrey Sports Park as part of an ambitious organisational re-structure, aligning our Student Sport Delivery capabilities with our highly aspirational strategic roadmap.

You’ll provide strategic and professional leadership to oversee the delivery of our bold vision for sport, acting as part of the department’s senior leadership team and leading the facility in our aim to engage our University community in the value of inclusive and accessible sport opportunities.

Role & Responsibilities:

As Assistant Director of Sport, you’ll provide specialist expertise and leadership to set elite standards and drive continuous improvement, fostering a high performing culture and team environment.

You’ll help to influence and develop the strategic positioning of the department, working with senior internal and external stakeholders to deliver our vision, while also maintaining smooth and efficient functioning of the facility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing resources, staffing structures, and budgets within the realm of sport delivery and operations, exercising independent decision-making to align with strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to shaping the department’s strategic vision in alignment with the university’s overarching strategy, particularly focusing on participation, health, wellbeing, and inclusivity in university sports.
  • Ensuring the efficient and effective operation of Surrey Sports Park, overseeing all aspects of facility management, activity coordination, and safety procedures.
  • Representing Surrey Sports Park both internally and externally, elevating its profile and fostering engagement within the community.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, professional environment conducive to a diverse range of sport programs and student activities.
  • Spearhead major projects and initiatives, from capital developments to partnership agreements, leveraging innovative solutions to overcome challenges.
